Explain what you do here at GDS.
I am a vice president and project manager.
Why do you enjoy working the engineering/design/construction field?
Every day presents a new challenge. This isn’t a boring profession! I enjoy interacting, collaborating and building relationships with vendors, architects, contractors and owners.
What is your favorite work-related memory?
Going to Boca Raton, Florida, in the sweltering August heat, evaluating rooftop equipment at high noon while sweating profusely and being told by the facilities manager who wasn’t sweating a drop, “Your body gets used to it.” There is no possible way the human body was designed to withstand those abominable conditions.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a young boy, I wanted to be a fortune cookie writer. As a young teen, I wanted to be a professional sleeper. In college, I thought I could make a killing being a hangover cure specialist. Now I’m an engineer…
What inspires you?
I’m inspired to help create environments in which people enjoy working, living, learning and playing.
What accomplishment or award you are most proud of?
Getting my amazing wife to settle for me.
Tell us about your background and why you chose to work at GDS?
I interned at Gibbens Drake Scott for several summers in college. I enjoyed my time during those internships, so when an opportunity to join full-time became available, I didn’t hesitate to join the team. I didn’t choose Gibbens Drake Scott, Gibbens Drake Scott chose me!
Tell us about a special talent or a strength you have.
I play a mean kazoo. I’m currently working on mastering the vuvuzela. I dance like one of those inflatable tube things you see at used car dealerships. My singing is even worse.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Watching Patrick Mahomes play football. And watching my kids watch Patrick Mahomes play football. Basically everything Patrick Mahomes, even his horrid cereal.
What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Independent, trustworthy & loyal.
